AcetheSuperVillain's News

Several new projects are currently in the works of varying priority:

#1 Universal Beat 'em Up Engine - http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/f5 c72c6bef0b072c832d287350e6affb - (Shift, Z, X for now) Code named "El Putador", this project is designed to create a reusable brawler engine that I can use to quickly alter graphics and move sets to create completely new brawlers without needing to start from scratch each time. The first game will use some of the races from the Diabolical Dungeons of Dr. Devil. (As of this post, only Barbarian and Mutant have Z attacks, Goblins and Slimes will get theirs in the future)

#2 Alloy Tengu 3 - A sequel to Alloy Tengu 2. The problem is that anything that really make the game more interesting, like a shop or squadron manager would require making menus and menus are a giant PAIN IN THE ASS to make with Flixel. However, the Alloy Tengu formula still has loads of unlocked potential and as soon as I figure out what to do, I'll make it happen again.

#3 4X Fever - http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/26 a5845c9c302374d48deb164d5d3aa3 - This is a simple little proof of concept "engine" that I threw together in a few hours today. If you don't know what a 4X game is, check Wikipedia. I've always wanted to make a simple 4X game, but I'm not sure that I really want to deal with the necessary AI right now. It's also very likely that i would use either the UBE or Alloy Tengu for combat, since they already exist and are probably more fun than whatever dice-rolling system I'd come up with otherwise.

#4 Rogue-likes - Sure, I can make Rogue-likes. Who says I can't? What's it to you?

You've probably figured this out already, but I'm not going to bother finishing the game concept in my last post, NG Royale. My programmer has vanished and I don't actually like any of you enough to finish it on my own.

If anyone is interested in using the existing graphics, give me a PM and we'll work it out. If you can show me some actual work, I'll consider expanding on them.

Greetings minions,

A new project is now underway, codenamed NG Royale.

It's going to be another Flash beat 'em up game with few lucky NG members as the fighters and staff members as the bosses.

"Staff members?" you ask, "Doesn't Ace the Super Villain do all his own stunts?" Well so far, yes, but I don't mind admitting that I have always really really really hated the programming half of making games. This time I've done the cybernetic equivalent of pulling a guy off the street to do the code. Hopefully you'll see lots of crazy evil games from us in the near future.

And if you're wondering to yourself, "hey, why am I not a lucky NG member?", comment with a description of what you look like and what sort of super powers you have, and your luck just might turn around. The number of characters will depend on how much time I have and how good and balanced the submissions are; i.e, you can't all be ninjas.

Further details are secret for now, but I'll try to keep you posted. You can also check my site for information.

Here's a sample of what the game might look like once it's ready:

That's it. I've lost it. I've gone completely nuts.

I've decided to quit working with "raw AS3" and try using Flixel again.

Here's the makings of my first Flixel game:
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/3e 9d5272387cc27c76b14f9cb47572f9

It's made out of this tutorial here:
http://www.creativeapplications.net/fl ash/flixel-2-tutorial-flash-tutorials-
games/

The cosine motion reminded me of Fantasia's Night on Bald Mountain, so once I get around to adding sounds, I'm going to use a remix or abridged version of the song as the bgm. My highscore is 540 with this version. I'll add more enemies too.

This is just practice, of course. My big ambition is to make better version of Roguette with the help of Flixel's tilemap systems. I also need the interface and animations of course, but hopefully Flixel will have something for that too.

Of course, this means that Fortress of Fantasm is indefinitely stalled. I don't know if I'll port it to Flixel or finish it in raw AS3 once my bitter hatred wears off, but since I have a lot of good graphics already done, I'll be sure to come back to it at some point.

We've finally got all the stuff out of our house. We'll follow it as soon we clear up a few appointments on this side.

Then the fun begins.

I've got a WHOLE BUNCH of fantasy beat 'em up sprites that are just itching to get game-ifized. And since I have access to drawing programs but not Flash while in transit, I might generate a shit-load more material for this game before starting. The engine's already done; I just need to plug and chug each of the new characters and add some extra fluff to make it gamey.

Hopefully this will finally be my chance to make Daily Top 5. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

College is finally over.

While normal people might take the time to just relax, I'm celebrating this by retreating to the dungeon and working furiously on a new game. I guess part of me thinks I should treat this event with a little more pomp and circumstance, but to be honest, there's nothing I'd rather do than subdue my emotions and get to work without any further distraction. I am a Super Villain after all ...

The game in question is "Ace Invaders" and it'll get done in a couple of days. I'm also contemplating some unnecessarily sexy dress-ups, but all remains to be seen.

One more month of school and I'm finally going to have that damn associates degree I don't want. Then it's back to the East Coast and I'll have all the time in the world to make money off of these games.

Ahhhhhh, I can almost smell it ...

whoa, that's wicked... I'll have to make use of this!

So I guess my first piece of news is that I think my main computer is dead. Completely and Permanently. As a graphic artist and vg programmer, I should probably be more bothered by this, but I've been so up to my asshole in electronic homework lately that what I'm really thinking is "Ha! Serves ya right, piece a silicon shit!" We'll see if I still think this tomorrow ...
